Write for us

Northern Regional News welcomes well-focused contributions about northern geography and the ways people understand and move through places. We are interested in clear explanations, not unverified travel claims or promotional copy.

What to propose

Pitch a specific subject connected to routes, crossings, settlement patterns, terrain or place names. A strong proposal identifies the reader's question, explains the central idea and shows what the piece will help someone notice. Keep the scope manageable and the language clear to readers without specialist knowledge.

A useful contribution

We favour evergreen subjects that can be explained without unsupported statistics, first-hand testing or claims that depend on current local conditions. Tell us what background or sources the piece would need, and flag any uncertainty or competing interpretations. Do not send confidential information or material that you do not have permission to share.

How to send a pitch

Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include a working title, a short outline and a brief note about your approach. A proposal is not a commission; wait for a reply before sending a full draft.
